In the wake of the 9/11/12 attack on the U.S. Mission in Libya which resulted in the death of 4 Americans (including Ambassador Stevens), U.S. Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice commented that this was a spontaneous attack in response to the anti-Islam video posted on Youtube.

It is hard to believe that this was a so-called spontaneous attack. Not long after Amb. Rice’s comment, the White House declared that it was in fact a terrorist attack. As it is, a terrorist attack, would automatically meant that this was a planned attack rather than a spontaneous one. Not to mention that the video had reportedly been on Youtube for 2 months prior to the attack on the Embassy. If this was a violent response to the video, it should have happened much earlier and it seemed all too coincidental that it occurred on the date of Sept. 11th.

What’s more? Despite various warnings signs of worsening security in Benghazi and the embassy’s request for more security personnel, it was reportedly declined by the State Department.

Spontaneous attack? It is a convenient pretext. It is a grave neglect on the part of the State Department and the White House.
